High school students from Nové Město na Moravě experienced a day as students of the Faculty of Sports Studies

For one day, they stepped into the role of university students. On March 13, eight final-year students from the sports classes of Vincenc Makovský Grammar School in Nové Město na Moravě, accompanied by their teachers, visited the Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University. They had the opportunity to experience firsthand what university education looks like. Throughout the intensive program, they engaged with experts in sports science, participated in practical sessions and lectures, and explored the environment of future coaches, physiologists, and physical education teachers.

During the day, the students attended a lecture on exercise physiology, where they learned how the human body responds to physical performance. In a didactics session on combat sports, they had the opportunity to practice fundamental techniques, specifically the kesa gatame immobilization from judo, and explored its application in physical education instruction. This session was joined by their teacher, Mgr. Petra Brychová, who, as part of the OP JAK MUNI 4 PREGRAD project, provided FSpS students with insights into practical teaching experience.

The program also included an introduction to strength and conditioning training, where participants, under the guidance of instructors, focused on the fundamentals of resistance training and physical preparation.

The afternoon session featured a lecture on conditioning training in team sports, with an alternative option of another practical block on combat sports. The day concluded with a lecture on sports nutrition, highlighting the importance of proper dietary habits in athletic performance.
