The Faculty of Sports Studies was established in 2002 as an independent continuation of the Physical Education department. Today, the Faculty provides sports and health education to more than 1500 students not only in Czech but also in English. All of our activities are based on scientific findings and the latest knowledge in the field of sports sciences. Besides its academic pursuits, the Faculty acts as an important advocate of healthy and active living among the public. Now, we want to strengthen the public role of the Faculty, continue to improve the quality of studies, extend the sports infrastructure of Masaryk University and increase the scientific potential and performance of the Faculty.

HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATION
The Faculty of Sports Studies offers 8 full degree programmes on all levels with 8 majors and many sports discipline specializations. We prepare qualified specialists for health services, educational and leisure sports activities. We also educate fitness trainers, coaches and sports managers. All study profiles are balanced to provide enough theoretical knowledge in combination with valuable practical skills.
TOP LEVEL RESEARCH
In addition to their pedagogical work, the Faculty teachers also engage in scientific projects. Research activities are focused on three strategic areas.
• dynamic and kinematic analysis of human movement
• biomedical aspects of movement
• social science aspects of physical education and sport
POPULARIZATION OF SCIENCE
One of our primary goals is to promote the attributes of healthy and active living as an integral part of a modern lifestyle. During our regular public and media presentations, our teachers share their findings and tips. This way, we encourage all groups of people - including children, elderly and disabled – to join us and improve their health and quality of life.
