Description Current school establishes value education as its priority. The author points to the possibility of introducing a pupil into the world of meanings and values in view of building relationship of pupils to nature. She considers the trend of education for nature, which will enable not only the experience of values and complex thinking full of respect to nature but also the study of human-created culture. The value aspects of the school curriculum are specified by the teacher, who is competent to convey knowledge on nature and culture, meanings of human behaviour and activities and to motivate appropriately and effectively link the affective and cognitive goals. Therefore, the author also deals with the value competence in teachers and possibilities of its development. The author presents examples from teacher education at the Faculty of Education to illustrate how this context is reflected and anticipated within professional-expert basis while respecting existing plurality of opinions on various issues. She used the results from the research project "School and health for 21st century".
