Description In the paper we discuss the current trend of integration of pupils with special educational needs (especially pupils with mild mental disability and socially disadvantaged pupils) into the mainstream education in the context of their further professional choice and job prospects in labour market. We compare the possibilities of primary schools and practical primary schools in the area of the development of practical interests of disabled pupils and we stress the role of teachers of practical activities. We introduce the programme of teacher training in technical and information education at the Faculty of Education Masaryk University in Brno, where their role in the professional choice of pupils (not only) with special educational needs is held in regard.
