Description | The nonenzymatic DNA hydrolysis of plasmid DNA in the presence of Eu3+ and La3+ ions can lead to single- and double-stranded breaks in DNA. The cleaved plasmid products can be easily separated and characterised by agarose gel electrophoresis. The nonenzymatic DNA cleavage was used in characterisation of extrachromosomal elements of bacteria of the genus Bifidobacterium. |
