Description | The importance of language advising as a tool for developing learner autonomy could be summarised in five Ps: providing support, partnership, (learning) process, (individual) priorities and progress. The presentation is based on a pilot analysis of recordings of advising sessions that take place within the English autonomously course. Analysis of the recordings should help to identify topics that students and advisors are engaged in, furthermore, it will be observed how they interact when dealing with these topics. The aim is to verify whether the advising sessions act as support for autonomous learning of a foreign language, whether communication during them is based on partnership, how is the learning process reflected during these sessions, whether the learning progress is evaluated, and whether the individual student´s priorities are taken into account, i.e. whether the language advising in the course corresponds to all five Ps. |
