Description After the end of the First World War, the mood for re-emigration rose among foreign compatriots, not only in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, but also in the USA. The greatest interest in re-emigration was among compatriots in Germany and Austria, which, like the defeated states, were in a bad economic situation. A similar situation was in Russia where a civil war broke out after the Bolshevik coup in November 1917.
