Description The population of pensioners living in homes for the elderly forms a specific social group. The actual stay in these facilities brings a risk of rapid decline in functional status and thus the quality of life of seniors living here. In our study, we verified the effect of annual motion program on the level of monitored parameters of functional abilities of older people. We observed the effect of the intervention motion to change the level of hand strength abilities and aerobic endurance. Hand grip strength was evaluated using dynamometry; the aerobic endurance was evaluated by 6 minutes walk distance (6 MWT). In the first part of the experiment, which took place over a period of six months, we surveyed a group of 24 seniors an average age of 83 found statistically significant improvement in both variables. In the second part of the experiment, which took place over a period of six months too, we watched what changes occur at seniors who continued in regular physical intervention groups and seniors who have ceased to practice. The results of the control measurements demonstrate a steady increase in the effect of exercise intervention on the hand grip strength and aerobic endurance seniors in the experimental group, while in control non-exercising group of seniors we observed a significant decrease in the level of monitored parameters.
