European Digital UniverCity, abbreviated as EDUC, connects universities from Western, Central, and Southern Europe into one common network. It is a consortium of eight universities. Thanks to shared European values of social responsibility and sustainable development as outlined by the United Nations, engaged universities create an environment where everyone - students, teachers, researchers, staff, and other partners - can benefit from the alliance as if they were part of not only their home university but all other universities in the alliance. From January 31st to February 2nd, 2024, a meeting of members of the EDUC SHARE and EDUC ALLIANCE projects took place in the city of Rennes, France. These projects are among the strategic goals of MU and FSpS within international cooperation. Within the EDUC ALLIANCE group, a new course entitled "Initiation to Research and Critical Thinking" is being developed, for which students can earn one credit at their home university. After completing this online course, students can apply for a short-term practical internship, for which they will receive an additional two credits.
Since mid-February 2024, students can apply for this hybrid course. The content of the "Initiation to Research and Critical Thinking" subject is very diverse and includes topics such as Scientific Methods Integrity and Ethics, Past and Future of Computation, Sciences for and with Society, Research and Inclusion, Research Committed to Societal Issues, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Management. The creation of the last two chapters was also contributed to by a member of our academic collective, Mgr. Michal Bozděch, Ph.D.
