After a year the Faculty of Sports Studies participated again in the SPORT LIFE fair, which was held from 8th to 10th November in Pavilion Z of the Brno Trade Fair Grounds. By participating in this event, the faculty confirmed its strategic goals to promote sport, sport activities and science to the general public. Apart from the promotion of the mentioned areas, students informed about their study programmes and lifelong learning at the faculty. They also presented a new concept of laboratories that are combined and opened to the general public under the title Laboratories of sport diagnostics. It is available for the general public for testing and measuring.
People could try the following activities at the stand or they could be tested:
• Measurement of foot arches by PodoCam – connection between the strength of toes and foot arch.
• Hand-held dynamometry: comparison of dominant and non-dominant hand,
• Movement in a weighted vest,
• Determination of nutritional value of food,
• Fitness test,
• In-body – measuring body composition using multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis,
• Activites with sport wheelchairs for disabled athletes.
Every day it was possible to try shooting at the biathlon shooting range which attracted both small and older visitors to the faculty stand at the fair.
