Citace
Popis Aim of this study was to evaluate the soil pollution and its impact on soil biota at vicinity of circular road in Prague (the Czech Republic). Localities were selected to be close to the road (supposed effects) and far from the road (backgrounds). The localities were selected to represent the same soil type (arable soils) and similar soil properties, so the best possible comparison of close and far localities could be realized without too many interacting factors. Physico-chemical characteristics soil contamination (heavy metals, POPs), soil microbial parameters, and toxicity of soils to soil invertebrates (E. fetida, F. candida, C. elegans, E. crypticus) were measured. Results of POPs and heavy metal analyses showed evident influence of the road transport to soil pollution levels. On the other hand, there was no effect on the soil microbial characteristics observed. Ecotoxicity tests showed that also no toxicity for soil invertebrates was associated with studied soils. More likely, the influence of soil physico-chemical properties on soil invertebrates was observed. In summary, it is evident that road transport was related to soil pollution, but did not manifested any effects on soil organisms. Moreover, the impact of soil properties on biological assays is so important that their use in similar studies is very problematic.
