Popis Background Healthy human cavity harbors a complex microbial eco-system of a large variety of species living in homeostasis. Microbial cohesion is a necessary mechanisms to. complex the initial biofilm largely represented by Streptococcus strains (47 to 90%). Under environmental changes, shift in microbial community misdirect selected species to the development of diseases. Currently, the main method for the prevention of the most common oral diseases, caries and periodontitis, is the mechanical removal of oral biofilm. The use of antimicrobial agents that directly interfering with the metabolism of dental plaque microbes, have been taken into consideration in addition to mechanical cleaning. However, the poor specificity of chemical agents and global antimicrobial resistance are requiring new and safe molecules, including natural extracts, which are able to target microorganisms selectively and could more specifically useful in the prevention of oral diseases
