Popis | Background: attention to healthy life style of individuals with mental disability (MD) is realized DUE TO Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Program, particularly Fun Fitness (FF) and Health Promotion (HP). Important background for training, education and healthy living improvement of persons with MD is analyses of Low Level (LoL: 50m, 100m cross-country run) and Intermediate Level (InL: 500m, 1km cross-country run) events. Aim: to collect the data of fitness and healthy life-sytle of athletes and compare the findings with real events achievements. Participants: Czech Special Olympians (31 male, 18 female) in age between 30 – 45, moderate level of intellectual disability were included in presented research analyses. The data were collected during one week of CZ Winter Games. Methods: Data collection: verbal survey oriented on healthy life-style and fitness assessment regarding SO-HA manual (BMI, heart rate variables by step-test, partial sit-up test, single-leg-stance with eyes opened and closed (on right/left leg, hand grip right/left), field results in cross-country competition. Data processing: descriptive statistics, case study. Results and discussion: all variables were found lower comparing with norms of general population of this age, specially heart rate variables. Minimum of differences between gender but great differences were found between ability level in all aspects of variables which can be considered as positive selection in adequate competitive level but probably a lack of training. Balance, hand strength marked higher abilities and chance to be included in InL events. |
