Popis | Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most frequent primary malignant brain tumor with very poor prognosis. Despite an optimal treatment composed of a maximal surgical resection followed an intense concomitant chemoradiotherapy with temozolomide and adjuvant temozolomide, the median of overall survival remains only 12-15 months from diagnosis. Because of a different response to treatment, it is very important to find new biomarkers that can be used in prediction of a clinical outcome in GBM patients, who underwent chemoradiotherapy. MicroRNAs are highly conserved, small, non-coding RNAs that function as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression. Therefore, these molecules play key role in pathogenesis of many cancers, including GBM. |
