Anotace přednášky:
Recent years have shown that elite athletes are not immune to psychological problems. Research provides prevalence rates for psychological disorders among elite athletes that match those of the general population. Alarming is that young athletes are at a significantly higher risk of developing mental health problems than their non-athletic peers. Meanwhile, research has described the determinants of developing mental health problems in athlete populations. These determinants differ to some degree from the risk factors specified for the general population. Major risk factors result from the specific characteristics of the elite sport system. Accordingly, therapeutic approaches need to be developed that take these sport-specific aspects into account. Hence, it is not adequate to simply transfer general psychotherapeutic approaches to the sports domain but there is a need to develop clinical sport psychology that translates approaches of general psychotherapy to the specific conditions of elite sports.
