Elicitins are proteins secreted by Oomycetes and stimulating defence reaction in plants (hypersensitive reaction with non specific systemic acquired resistence). Moreover, they are a part of group of sterol carrier proteins. They are probaly able to transport other lipids. The aime of the project is a detailed study of the activity of this transport a structure-activity relationship. This ability can by related to the induction of hypersensitive response in plants. The project will contribute to the knowledge of the molecular bases of pathogenicity of Oomycetes and the structure of elicitins.
