Description The subject of the following article lies in library services provided by municipalities in the South Moravian Region. The key objective of this paper is an analysis of library services sector in South Moravia. Assumption of this analysis is to identify the size of the municipality sample that are analyzed, which takes into account the administrative criterion, legislatively enshrined in the law on municipalities, which sets the limit of three thousand people to be able to reach the status of the town. This will be respected, and therefore there will be municipalities with more urban character. The analysis is aimed on the performance of library services, as well as municipal library finance of institutions and their position in the municipality or town budget. Another feature that is taken into account is the institutional background and form of establishment of library facilities within the municipality or its organization. There is also taken into account the aspect concerning the status of municipalities according to delegated and individual incidence status and the impact of this status on the extent of library service providing. The analysis will also take into account the evolution of providing these services over time and will try to capture the trends of this specific sector of municipal economy.
