Description Results of this study confirmed negative effect of PAH fluoranthene (FLT) on biochemical and physiological processes which can affect the yield in pea (Pisum sativum). The seed germination, the growth of seedlings, the content of chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (F0, FV/FM and PhiII) were significantly affected already by 1 mg L-1 FLT. The Hill reaction of isolated chloroplasts of pea plants was significantly inhibited already by 0.01 mg L-1 FLT. The content of FLT in pea biomass correlated well with the loading of the environment. Also the level of stress-induced endogenous ABA significantly increased with increasing FLT concentrations.
