Description In the paper, a newly-created model of periodontium is presented. Data presented in several earlier experimental papers were used for the creation of the model. The bilinear isotropic model of perio-dontium material was applied in simulation model of a single tooth in a whole lower jaw, and its particular segment, respectively. Verification of the model was done by a PC-based system Ansys using finite element method. In the model, the following material characteristics for periodontium were used: Young modulus of elasticity E1 =- 0.05 MPa, E2 = 2.5MPa. Analysis of results of simulation run showed distribution maximum main stress in bony tissue of a lower jaw, pattern of which was related to forces applied in coronoapical and buccolingual directions. Using a newly-created model, a good agreement of simulation results with experimental data was reached. Future development of the model will include periodontal fibres.
