Description The aim of this study is to find out the relationship between the level of handstand stability and level of static balancing abilities in sport gymnasts. Using the stabilometric system Fitro Sway check we were detecting the level of static balancing activities in 19 10 to 13-year-old female sport gymnasts. We chose handstand as the basic static balancing structure of sport gymnastics. We characterized the optimal handstand performance using three different parameters – we evaluated the quality of the handstand performance, the length of the performance and deflection values COP while balancing in the static position. To find out the relationship we used Pearson’s correlation coefficient which showed the strongest dependence (r = 0.3995) between static balance ability and deflection sizes COP in handstand. The strength of the dependence confirms that it is impossible to perform handstand of required quality without a certain level of balancing ability.
