Description | Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a special role in radiology. Radiology is necessary for detection, characterization, staging, treatment and evaluation of treatment response. Ultrasound examination is the basis for screening patients at risk, in characterizing the lesion has the highest accuracy magnetic resonance imaging. A breakthrough in the modern history of diagnostic radiology is that HCC can be treated with cancer in selected cases without histological verification only on the basis of the criteria for display. In the treatment of HCC interventional radiology is acquiring a higher importance. Results of percutaneous techniques in terms of recurrence and survival of patients cope with surgical treatment, we are seeing extremely high response rate in otherwise chemoresistent tumor by usin transarterial treatment. All patients with HCC are diagnosed by radiological methods and more than half of patients may benefit from intervention radiological methods. Diagnosis and treatment with the advantage of using a multidisciplinary approach leads to higher success of treatment by choosing optimal procedure for more patients. |
