Description In our work we have focused on the analysis of tumor cell lines derived from prostate cancer and their influences various concentrations of zinc ions. We worked with three tumor lines (PC-3, LNCaP, 22Rv1) and one nonmalignant prostate cell lines (PNT1A). We performed first measurements using the classical MTT cytotoxicity test, and then also by real-time monitoring of cells using the apparatus XCELLigence. The results show that cell lines derived from normal prostate epithelium has a greater ability to accumulate zinc ions compared to tumor lines. Using your XCELLigence we obtained unique results that could contribute to clarify the metabolism of zinc in cancerous prostate tissue.
