Description The article presents results of research of understanding of artistic text by pupils foreigners attending Czech primary school and compares them with degree of understanding of the same text by Czech pupils of the same age. She finds out that pupils foreigners lack wider vocabulary in Czech language and deeper knowledge of the Czech cultural tradicions. In conclusion of her paper the author looks for the possibilities for factual and also aesthetic understandin of artistic text by pupils foreigners.
