Description Acidobasic properties of pyrimidine bases (cytosine, thymine, uracil) were studied by means of glass-electrode potentiometry and the respective dissociation constants were determined under given experimental conditions (I = 0.1 M (NaCl), t = (25.0 +/- 0.1) degrees of Celsius): cytosine (pK_H2L = 4.606 +/- 0.006), thymine (pK_HL = 9.773 +/- 0.004), and uracil (pK_HL = 9.265 +/- 0.002).
