Description | Genome size (c-value; DNA content of haploid genome) was estimated using flow cytometry in species of families Dysderidae, Eresidae, Hersiliidae, Oecobiidae, Sparassidae, as well as in species of some other orders of Arachnida (Solifugae, Uropygi, Scorpiones, Pseudoscorpiones and Opiliones). The largest genome (c=7.6 pg) was found in Uroctea durandi (Oecobiidae). The reduction of chromosome numbers documented in the genus Stegodyphus (Eresidae) was found to be not associated with DNA content downsizing. The smallest DNA content was estimated in species Gluvia dorsalis (c = 1,0 pg), and Atypus affinis (c = 1,2 pg). |
