Description One of the fundamental characteristic of protein is the ability to interact with other proteins. Several methods are used to find interaction partners of proteins and study protein-protein interactions in vivo, e.g. in yeast or transiently transformed Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. Yeast two-hybrid assay is classical method used to obtain first information about protein interaction partners. However, it is necessary to verify yeast results by independent methods like bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BiFC) in tobacco leaves. Another method with similar experimental setup is membrane recruitment assay, which is used for studyin interactions between membrane and cytosolic protein. To construct recombinant DNA for all in vivo interaction methods, Gateway technology is used for cloning.
