Description The article deals with the pathophysiological basis for the combination therapy with ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers (sartans) in the treatment of hypertension, heart failure, post myocardial infarction condition and in secondary prevention of CAD. In particular, risks posed by this combination therapy that influences angiotensin II formation or action are discussed in the light of clinical trials and clinical practice.
