Description | The command of foreign languages is a very important condition for successful participation in the Czech labour market in and abroad, but it also significantly contributes to personal development. Broadly speaking, it can be considered a vital means of socialization and enculturation. Foreign language teaching must be adjusted to pupils who are socially and culturally disadvantaged or belong to cultural minorities. These pupils must be given a chance to develop a strong foundation of foreign language competences during their primary schooling. The present paper deals with the general theoretical aspects of foreign language teaching for learners who are socially and culturally disadvantaged, as well as with presentation of results of empirical research. It focuses mainly on didactic recommendations for modern foreign teaching aimed at the target group concerned. |
