Description The paper introduces the project CPV Video Study of English, the aim of which is to document and analyse the processes of teaching and learning as they take place in everyday English classrooms in the Czech Republic. A randomised sample of English lessons taught at Czech lower-secondary schools was collected in 2007. Analyses carried out within the project focus on various aspects of teaching, such as modes of classroom organisation, using didactic tools and media and opportunities to talk. This paper also presents selected preliminary results of these analyses.
