Description The paper discusses the concept of gender as an important ethical dimension in psychotherapy and counselling. The analysis of psychotherapy approach of Trapková & Chvála (2004) shows the need for deeper integration of this dimension into psychotherapy and counselling. The consideration of this ethical dimension contributes to our respect for variability of gendred experiences and types of family cohabitation. The perspective of gender enables to see how therapeutic approaches implicitly produce norms of being, behaving as well as cohabitation. For improving the quality of therapeutic work it seems to be necessary to analyze psychotherapeutic systems from the gender perspective in order to discover the reproduction of gender stereotypes, power and the formation of norms of health.
