Description | The aim of this paper is an analysis of derivational relations of the adjectives on -čí. We work with two software tools: the morphological analyzer ajka (Sedláček 2004) and web derivational interface Deriv http://nlp.fi.muni.cz/projekty/ajka/cjbb85/ (Hlaváčková, Osolsobě, Pala, Šmerk 2009). Deriv is an interactive tool able to work with the main regular derivational relations in Czech it can generate new word forms derived from stems in Czech stem list (almost 400 000 items) (Osolsobě, 1996). It is based on the assumption that it is possible to extract n-tuples of the items from the stem list of ajka (or from corpus) that meet the two requirements: a) all members can be found in the stem list, b) each member of the n-tuple meets the underlying hypothesis. The lists of pairs (such as -e/ečí e.g. jehně/jehněčí, -ec/-čí e.g. savec/savčí, -ek/-čí e.g. dobytek/dobytčí , ... etc.) generated automatically in this way was manually checked and the list of correctly derived pairs and the list of the exceptions is obtained. The description of the adjectives on -čí derived from the ?verb root/? verbale noun on -ce in some Czech grammars and dictionaries is compared with the corpus based analysis of collocations of this type of derivatives. Potential arguments for the existence of parallel ways of expressing function/role by an adjective (noun) on -čí/-cí in Czech are brought forward. |
