Description The paper is a review study which summarises educational cartography research. The contribution emerges that the theory of geography learning and teaching keeps many studies at disposal in this field. It is possible to use findings of these studies in both theoretical and practical way. In the theoretical way it is possible to use the findings as a base for educational cartography further research and in the practical way as a guideline for improving learning and teaching in school geography. The authors conclude the main aspects of reviewed studies that contribute to the development of geography learning and teaching theory.
