Description The aim of this study was to study selected polymorphisms in the TLR genes and their association with the development and/or progression of chronic periodontitis (CP). In conclusion, although we did not find a significant role of TLR2 gene in CP, our results indicate that the three polymorphisms in the TLR9 gene act in a cooperative fashion and may be associated with a susceptibility to CP at least in our population.
