Description FerA protein belongs flavin reductases (PF01613). The enzyme reduces ferricparabactin. The ferA knock-out mutant strain has significantly decresed growth abilities and diminished production of catechol siderophores. Partial restoration of properties for the wild strain was observed after complementation of the disrupted ferA gene or in the presence of 1 mM chorismic acid in growth medium.
