Description In 2007 an anonymous questionnaire study mapping the students experiences with primary prevention of pathological dependencies was carried out. With the assistance of web application, full-time students from all faculties of Masaryk University were addressed, the questionnaire was completed by 2176 respondents. The results show that 2 of 10 asked students met the addiction prevention topic, mostly in Faculty of Education, Informatics, Medicine and Science. Similarly, only 2 of 10 asked respondents met the prevention topic within the lectures, only few per cent of students also in halls, during various educational and outside interest action organised by university. Tenth of students were addressed by the addiction prevention within the obligatory and facultative lectures, two per cent of students in obligatory optional lectures-they were mostly from Faculty of Education, Science, Informatics and Medicine. With regard to preventive impact on MU students, especially the monologue lectures are applied, rarely the lectures with discussion and participation in after-university preventive programmes, hardly ever forums with experts, visits in therapeutic institutions for drug addicts and parting in artistic and sport events. More than three quarters of asked students answered that university prevention activities involve only alcoholism and nicotinism, only 10 per cent of respondents had the experience with complexly concieved pathological addictions prevention. For all practical purposes, 9 of 10 questionned students mean that these are only isolated preventive activities, there is no succession and systematicness. More than half of respondents consider the university addiction prevention as pointed and useful, third of them cannot take an attitute, the commentary about prevention of tenth is rather critical (unclear focus, usefulness, even time loss). According to the opinion of 9 of 10 respondents, there should be more time given to addictions primary prevention in Masaryk University, it should be more varied and attractive as well.
