Description | Laser ablation based analytical methods are often used for mapping elemental distribution of the sample with different matrices. Besides the other application, analysis of calcified tissues by laser assisted techniques was recently also reported. Here we report on utilization of laser-induced breakdown spectrometry (LIBS) for analysis of animal teeth. Sample hardness and excitation temperature was investigated using ionic or atomic lines intensity ratio of magnesium or calcium. For these samples, lateral profiles of elements measured by LIBS were compared with results obtained by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). |
