Description In this study we deal with determination of running economy and aerobic capacity in middle-distance and marathon runners (n=10). The testing made on 400m long athletic track. We used a telemetric device Oxycon Mobile for measuring of ventilation parameters. The testing made on 400m long athletic track. For evaluating the running economy, we used a modified Saltin sub maximum test (speeds: 12, 14 and 16 km/h). For determination anaerobic threshold (ANT) and aerobic capacity (VO2max) we used test to maximum. Group of sub elite marathon runners have slightly better running economy (VO2/speed: 178 ml/kg/km) (no statistic significant: p=0,518 at 12 km/h, p=0,387 at 14 km/h and p=0,226 at 16 km/h) than middle-distance runners (VO2/speed: 188 ml/kg/km). The values of aerobic capacity (VO2max) are not different (p=0,533) in both groups of runners (65,6 in middle distance runners and 68 in marathon runners).
