Description | The quantitative determination of lignans was based on extraction with organic solvents, solid phase extraction and quantitative HPLC analysis (Slanina and Glatz, 2004). Interestingly, we have observed selectivity of absorption of individual lignans from culture media by different polymeric resins. This fact may significantly facilitate the isolation of lignans adsorbed onto resins. The amount of lignans produced by culture increased several time under amberlite influence. According our results, addition of polymeric adsorbents seems to be very useful tool for achievement of lignans of special interest from embryogenic in vitro culture of S. chinensis. Thus lignans acquired (in sufficient amounts and purity) can be subsequently used for more detailed studies of their pharmacological effects, for analytical purposes, or can be utilised in clinical practice. |
