Approach to elaboration of space model of economic development of the Czech Republic

| Description | Contribution deals with original space model of economic development. This model was verified on the example of 14 Czech mezo-regions (kraje) and consists of three steps: evaluation of business environment quality (16 factors concerning of business, labour, infrastructural, regional and local, price and environmental prerequisites for new and expanding investment), evaluation of human resources utilization (based on information about unemployment level and share of so-called sensitive industries, that are threatened by strong competition) and evaluation of innovative potential (based on information about number of innovative firms and number of employees in important innovative firms). The attention was further focused on the process of constitution of so-called development poles of national and supranational importance (main carriers of socioeconomic development), development axes of national and regional importance (helping the diffusion of positive development effects) and formation of labour micro-regions. Given mezo-regions were consequently divided into 3 types and 6 subtypes according to their total competitive position. Possibilities of practical utilization of acquired results were tested on background of defined development scenarios: progressive scenario (2 classified regions) growth scenario (8 regions) and adaptation scenario (4 regions). |
