Description	The article deals with the German Militant Group (Militante Gruppe; MG) and its activities in 2001-2007. It analyses the position of the MG within the history of the German militant left, it describes the development of the MG and its ideology and strategy. The impact of the MG on the rest of German left wing extremism is researched, mostly in context of campaign against the G 8 Summit in Heiligendamm in 2007. In the conclusion the future development of left-wing militancy in Germany after the arrest of members of the MG in 2007 is assessed.
