| Description | The analytical text deals with the interior arrangement of school building. The primary requirement was large, airy classrooms in newly designed school buildings with sufficient and efficient ventilation and correct, hygienic heating. The classrooms were to be equipped with high and wide windows with narrow gaps between the window panes to reduce the necessary artificial lighting of the classrooms. Further requirements included correctly sized classroom furniture (desks and seats), appropriate writing equipment, blackboard chalk, textbook print etc. Discussions were held about the beginning time of school lessons, correct timetable structure and scope of homework, without final settlement of the issues. A clear preference was expressed for morning lessons over afternoon lessons, even though this was often impossible to put in practice, as the increased population made it nearly impossible even to keep the stipulated number of pupils per classroom (there were requests for even further reduction of the number of pupils per classroom below 60). |
