Description | The noncompetitive NMDA receptor antagonist memantine did not produce significant alteration of sensitization either to methamphetamine stimulatory effects on mouse locomotor/exploratory behaviour in the open field test or to methamphetamine inhibitory antiaggressive effects in singly-housed mice on dyadic social interactions with non-aggressive group-housed partners. Blockade of glutamate release by treatment with phenytoin (not changing locomotor behaviour in the open field test) prevented the development of compulsory wheel running - an animal model of excercise addiction in humans. |
