Description | RAGE2 haplotype was previously identified as a genetic risk factor for the development and early onset of diabetic nephropathy. Curent study showed that (i) sRAGE significantly differed among subjects bearing variable number of RAGE2 haplotype copies, (ii) was significantly higher in subjects with nephropathy than normoalbuminuric patients and (iii) positively correlated with severity of nephropathy, S-urea, S-creatinine and negatively with glomerular filtration rate (GFR). GFR seems to be principal determinant of the AGE and sRAGE levels. |
