Description | The Platypezidae fauna of the Podyjí National Park has been poorly known, although exists a description of a new genus and species from this area (VAŇHARA 1981). Some recent faunistic data were published by (Ševčík 2004). Nomenclature and distribution follow Fauna Europaea (CHANDLER 2004). No more than 31 species of the family Platypezidae are known from the Czech Republic (VAŇHARA 1997), European monographic study published by CHANDLER (2001) mentioned 42 spp. and for the Palaearctic CHANDLER & SHATALKIN (1998) state about 70 spp. The life habits of platypezid species are similar: larvae are mycetophagous with one gall-forming species, adults are on mushrooms during oviposition or move on leaves of trees and herbs in forests from lowlands to montane habitats. Larval development and larval morphology are rather poorly known. The most of species of the family were included in recent regional "Red book" regarding necessary protection of mushrooms. |
