| Description | The Third Republic (May 1945 to February 1948) was clearly a hybrid with distincts elements of a pre-totalitarian regime. The features that appear in it, which resemble the democratic principles of the First Republic (October 1918 to September 1938), were adopted more or less mechanically, formally, merely as the outwar sign of electoral continuity. |
