| Description | The article deals with the genre of "laus" or "laudatio" in Cosmas's Chronica Boemorum. At the beginning, the autor provides some basic information about the development of the genre from the late antiquity to the high Middle Ages and about how literary praises were composed - a specific form of praising within historiographic works is accented. The main part of the article presents so called "topoi enkomiastikoi" in Cosmas's praises. For each individual encomiastic passage there is given a commentary and evidence from Cosmas's work. |
