Description | Boric acid, often used in electroplating Watts baths, acting as a buffer, and hindering hydrogen evolution reactions on the electrode surface. It can also change the morphology and composition of the deposited alloy. However, only a few papers reported on the effect of boric acid in the deposition of metals and/or alloys. We have focused on the study of this problem by using elimination voltammetry with linear scan (EVLS). The total current responses recorded in linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) consist of a set of particular currents, e.g., charging, diffusion, and kinetic currents. The EVLS enables selected particular currents to be eliminated, and unknown processes to be revealed. The essence of the reported experimental results is the observed influence of boric acid as a surface agent. In the presence of boric acid in the supporting electrolyte the kinetic reaction becomes more pronounced, which was confirmed using E4 elimination function. |
