Description Heart-rate baroreflex sensitivity expressed in ms/mmHg(BRS) or in Hz/mmHg (BRSf)decreases with age. The hypothesis that the age-dependent decrease of BRS and BRSf are caused by age-dependent increase of carotid wall thickness was investigated in the study presented. Our results: the positive correlation between age and intima-media thicknes of carotid wall and negative correlation between age and BRS and BRSf are in agreement with our hypothesis.
