Description Bacterial strains P1P and P3A were isolated from soil by selective enrichment with p-nitrophenol. Strains were classified as arthrobacters. There was detected degradation of p-nitrophenol and p-nitrocatechol by both strains and induction effect of p-nitrobenzoic acid on cell division of the strain P3A. The influence of p-nitrophenol, p-nitrocatechol and p-nitrobenzoic acid on fatty acids methyl ester profile of whole cells of the strain P3A was investigated.
