Description | Degradation of 4-nitrocatechol and 5-nitroguajacol by a Rhodococcus species isolated from soil was reported. Degradation of 4-nitrocatechol is not connected with capability of degrade 4-nitrophenol in the case of the strain C6-1, in contrast to known bacteria degrading 4-nitrocatechol. 4-Nitrocatechol is used as sole source of carbon and nitrogen in concentration up to 0.5 mol.l-1. The yellow colour of substrate allows the using of method of automatic spectrophotometry (BIOSCREEN C) for detailed determination of degradation profile of 4-nitrocatechol. Resting cells experiments were used for determination of basic kinetic parameters of reactions. |
